Air Force Museum of New Zealand

Whether you’re a local or a tourist then the Air Force Museum of New Zealand is sure to please. It’s a great place for both kids and adults to visit. Obviously NZ has never had a huge Air Force, but nonetheless, this it’s been no barrier to setting up such an impressive display. It’s located at the old Air Force base in the suburb of Wigram, which is about a 15 minute drive from the city. There is plenty of parking and the best thing is that it is entirely free (although donations are welcome)!

The displays are well organized and I really like the information displayed for each of the planes.

If you are a parent in Christchurch, then this place can be a haven on a cold, wet Christchurch day as the kids will definitely enjoy it. From an adult’s perspective, I really like reading the stories presented about the people who served. They do a great job in bringing to life the people pictured. Here are a few more pic’s for you to enjoy and please feel free to check out some other posts on Cheeky Cockatoo!
